News of the day: we didn’t leave the dog to fend for itself after the road accident

Today, a woman rang our charity, STARÝ DRUH, asking for help.

‘Good afternoon! Are you the charity? Could you please come here? A car has hit a dog here, and the driver has left the scene. The animal needs urgent help!’

Our volunteers didn’t stand idly by and immediately set off for the scene. We picked up the injured dog and took her to a veterinary clinic, hoping that the vets would be able to save her life.

Unfortunately, after examining the dog, the vet informed us that the injuries were fatal and recommended putting the dog to sleep to end its suffering.

These were very difficult words to hear. But as volunteers, we know that as long as there is even the slightest hope, we must not give up.

We simply could not accept this verdict and give up the fight for her life. So we decided to give the dog one more chance and handed her over to Anastasia Tykha for treatment.

We sincerely hope that, by working together, we will be able to do everything possible for this animal. A difficult journey lies ahead, and we understand just how serious the situation is. But for us, every life matters.

We would like to thank the woman who reported the dog, our volunteers who responded immediately, and everyone who does not turn a blind eye to the suffering of others.

We cannot save everyone, but we will fight for every life as long as there is hope.

STARÝ DRUH — standing by those in need.
