Mimi Mucha Mila

Six years of waiting for a home
Once, they were simply taken out of the village and left by a lake — far from any human dwellings. The little puppies were left to fend for themselves, doomed to hunger, cold and death.
But a miracle happened.
Our volunteer, Nora, spotted them. She couldn’t just walk past: she gathered the little ones up, took them away from that spot and brought them to the shelter.
There were six of them.
Two of the puppies were eventually lucky enough to find families and set off for their new homes.
The four girls, however, remained at our shelter.
They grew up together, supported one another and waited for their chance. It seemed that one day, someone was bound to come along who would see in each of them not just a dog from a shelter, but a true friend.
Sadly, one of them, our Mimi, recently crossed the Rainbow Bridge. 🌈
And her sisters are now six years old.
Six years of life at the shelter. Six years of waiting for a family of their own.
We really want these girls to finally discover what a real home is like: having a place of their own, a person who cares for them, a warm bed, daily walks and the certainty that they’ll never be left behind again.
Unfortunately, it’s much harder for adult and large dogs to find a family these days. People tend to choose puppies without realising that an adult dog already has a fully formed character, can be very grateful for the care they receive, and can become an incredibly loyal friend.
But we haven’t lost hope.
We believe that somewhere out there, there’s the right person for each of them.
Someone who won’t be put off by their age or size.
Someone who will see not the years they’ve spent in the shelter, but the whole life that still lies ahead.
Someone who will one day say: ‘You’re home now’.
We really want these girls’ stories not to end at the shelter.
Perhaps, right now, amongst those reading this story, there is their future family.
Please help us give them the chance of a home.
Even if you can’t take a dog home yourself, you can help by sharing this story. Perhaps, thanks to you sharing it, the very person they’ve been waiting for all these six years will see it. ❤️
They’re still waiting. And we haven’t stopped believing that they’ll be rewarded for their patience.
