‘Old Friend’: helping Natalia Nikitina care for 150 dogs and 30 cats

Behind every animal in need of help is a life that deserves care, safety and love.

The ‘Old Friend’ Charitable Foundation supports Natalia Nikitina, who looks after a large number of animals in Ukraine. She currently cares for 150 dogs and 30 cats. Each of them needs daily food, care and, at times, veterinary treatment.

Caring for such a large number of animals is an extremely difficult task. It involves daily work, significant costs and a great deal of responsibility. That is why we strive to help Natalia as much as we can, and to seek out caring people and partners who are ready to join this cause.

Why will our website feature more than just individual stories?

Unfortunately, we do not always know each animal’s past. We cannot tell the story of every one of them – where they came from, what they have been through, and how they ended up with Natalia.

Some of the dogs live together in shared enclosures — several animals in one space. That’s why we want to introduce you to them through shared photos and videos, showing them as they are today.

We won’t make up stories we don’t know. Instead, we’ll tell you honestly about the animals in our care, show you their everyday lives and gradually add more information about individual animals as we find out more.

Meet the animals in our care

On this page, we’ll gradually be posting photos and videos of the dogs and cats in Natalia Nikitina’s care.

You’ll be able to see the animals, get to know them and find out more about their needs. Even if we don’t yet know the story behind a particular dog or cat, that doesn’t make them any less important. Each of them has the right to care, adequate food and a decent life.

We also hope that, thanks to these posts, someone will want to help, support the animals or, perhaps, give one of them a loving home.

How can you help?

With so many animals in need, there are many ways to help. We’d be grateful for support in the form of food, financial donations, veterinary medicines and other essentials.

Every bit of help counts. When many people come together for a common cause, it becomes possible to do more for those who cannot ask for help themselves.

The ‘Staryi Druzh’ Charitable Foundation continues to support Natalia Nikitina and the animals in her care. We want to ensure these animals are not overlooked and that their needs are heard.
